This is a good class for a first cardigan, and we will go through raglan sweater construction for a loosely knit sweater that eliminates buttonholes and knits up fast due to the aran weight yarn and large needles. We will also discuss gauge and the importance of gauge for fit.
Supplies Needed:
Bulky Yarn: like Cascade Superwash 128 - Amount needed is 4 to 7 skeins size depending on size.
Laceweight yarn: 2 to 3 skeins depending on yardage
Buttons if desired: 3 to 5 approximately 1” diameter or a shawl pin if desired.
Needles: Circular US 13 and US 17 or size needed to get gauge, with 40 to 60” cables
Pattern: on Ravelry
Prerequisites: Knitting, purling, gauge swatching*, casting on, and binding off.
Skills learned: holding 2 yarns together, increasing and decreasing, sweater design and execution. * There will also be a handout at sign up on how to swatch for gauge to assist if needed.
Prework: Please come to class with a gauge swatch of at least 18 sts and 26 rows.
